SINTERING OVEN
With a convection oven there will be about a 25 to 30% decrease in cooking temperature and a 20% decrease in cooking time as compared to a conventional oven. The rotational molding process consists of four distinct phases:1- Loading a measured quantity of polymer (usually in powder form) into the sintering oven mold. This sintering oven typically takes tens of minutes. The reverberatory furnace can be contrasted on the one hand with the blast furnace, in which fuel and material are mixed in a single chamber, and, on the other hand, with crucible, muffling, or retort furnaces, in which the subject material is isolated not only from the fuel, but from all of the products of combustion including gases and flying ash. The process was devoloped in the 1940's but in the early years attracted little attention because it was regarded as a slow process which was restricted to a small number of plastics. Heat sintering oven may also be generated by magnetic hysteresis losses. Control of the fuel/air balance can alter the exhaust gas sintering oven chemistry toward either an oxidizing or a reducing mixture, and thus alter the chemistry of the material being processed. However, over the past two decades, improvements in process control and developments with plastic powders have resulted in a very significant increase in usage of the process. Traditionally, this was through a chimney, which sintering oven tends to expel heat along with the exhaust.
